Nana Kwasi Boatey Warns Offenders Will Face Prosecution

The Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL), Nana Kwasi Boatey, has declared a firm stance against the growing problem of fake gazettes in Ghana.

Speaking at the launch of the Gazette 360 campaign in Accra, Mr. Boatey warned that individuals involved in falsifying the Ghana Gazette would face the full force of the law. “We will chase you, we will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we’ll make sure you stay behind bars,” he stated, describing such acts as crimes against the state.

According to him, fake gazettes have caused serious harm to Ghanaians, particularly those seeking opportunities abroad, where fraudulent entries related to marriages and name changes have undermined their credibility. He emphasized that the Gazette remains the only official and legal public record in Ghana and must be safeguarded at all costs.

The Gazette 360 initiative is designed as a nationwide public education effort to help citizens understand the importance of the Gazette, how to access it properly, and why it remains central to legality and governance. The campaign also aims to address the proliferation of fraudulent documents by taking education into schools, churches, mosques, and communities across the country.

GPCL has partnered with Marry Right Ghana and AngloGold Ashanti to push the campaign. Nana Kwasi Boatey urged the media, security services, and the wider public to support the fight against fake gazettes, stressing that protecting the integrity of the Gazette is crucial for national trust and accountability.
