The week 2 encounter of the ongoing Greater Accra Hockey league between defending champions GRA Ladies and Legonknights Ladies drew spectators to the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch last weekend, fueled by pre-match excitement following a televised interview with Legonknights’ captain, Adwoa Amoah.

It was Legonknights’ opening game of the season, and the atmosphere was charged with expectations. However, the African champions proved far too dominant, handing the university side a heavy 10-0 defeat.

Just one minute into the game, Mercy Ackon opened the scoring with a well executed penalty corner. Debutant Gifty Addae doubled the lead in the 7th minute through a fine field goal, and ACCC’s best player, Vivian Narkuor, netted the third in the 17th minute. By halftime, GRA was comfortably ahead with a 5-0 scoreline.

After the break, GRA Ladies returned even more ruthlessly, dominating possession and confining Legonknights to barely a third of the turf. Vivian Narkuor, Gifty Addae, Doris Antwi, and Mercy Ackon all found the net again, wrapping up a commanding performance.

In all, GRA Ladies scored 6 field goals and 4 penalty corner goals.

Vivian Narkuor climbed to the top of the Goal Queen chart with 4 goals to her name.
