Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has taken firm action against illegal vendors operating around the newly commissioned Flower Pot Interchange in Accra. In a video widely shared on social media, the minister personally dismantled tables and chairs set up by hawkers who had disregarded previous warnings to vacate the area.

The move aligns with efforts to preserve the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the interchange, a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and connectivity across the Accra-Tema Motorway. During the commissioning of the project, Glover had issued a stern warning against setting up unauthorized structures such as kiosks and containers near the site.

Despite the directive, vendors returned shortly after the event, prompting swift enforcement from the minister. The Spintex-Flower Pot Interchange, featuring a dual carriageway viaduct and multiple ramps, is designed to alleviate traffic congestion in areas including Spintex, East Legon, Cantonments, and Tema.

Authorities have called on the public to cooperate in safeguarding the facility for long-term use. Additional measures are expected to ensure compliance and prevent a recurrence of illegal activities around the interchange. This crackdown underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining order and maximizing the benefits of critical infrastructure projects.
