The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has kicked off a youth-focused activation under National Chocolate Month, aiming to promote Ghana-made chocolate and deepen awareness of the country’s cocoa heritage. 

As part of the initiative, GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto with her entourage visited Achimota Secondary School on Friday, 13th February, 2025, urging students to embrace Ghanaian heritage and promote locally made cocoa products.

Houadjeto in her speech,emphasized the importance of understanding the cocoa value chain, highlighting the health benefits of locally produced chocolate. The CEO encouraged students to prioritize Ghana-made chocolates, stressing that buying local supports cocoa farmers and their families. This move is expected to boost the local cocoa industry and promote economic growth.

The visit included a chocolate presentation to the school management, with Houadjeto expressing appreciation and love for the students. 

The school’s girls’ senior prefect, Cleopatra El-Husseini, thanked the authority for the support and advocated for more Ghana-made cocoa products during the Chocolate Month. This gesture demonstrates the authority’s commitment to promoting local products.

The event was part of GTA’s efforts to promote Ghanaian culture and heritage, with a focus on the cocoa industry. The authority aims to educate the youth on the importance of cocoa production and its impact on the country’s economy.
