The Salpholda Hockey League entered week 9 with intense fixtures in the Men, Youth, and Women’s divisions.
In the Men’s Division, Exchequers continued their fine start to the league, beating Legonknights 5-1 to extend their lead at the top of the league table. Police arrested the University of Ghana team with a 5-0 victory. Arkmen battled against Reformers but fell short with a 1-2 scoreline.
In a thrilling game between Army and GRA, Army took an early lead through a penalty stroke in the second quarter by Stephen Asamoah. GRA equalized after the recess with a penalty corner by Adjetey Prince, who then doubled their lead in the fourth quarter with another penalty corner. However, Army leveled the score in the last minute through Ayivor Michael’s penalty corner, ending the match 2-2.
In the Women’s Division, Army had a smooth journey against Extinguishers, winning 2-0. Reformers silenced Legonknights with a 4-0 victory. The University of Ghana drew 1-1 with the Development Team, and GRA brushed aside Police with a 3-0 win.
Week 9 concluded with fixtures from the Youth division. Tema Manhean dismantled Young Financiers with a 9-0 scoreline, and Arkboys won 2-0 against Einstein Hockey.
All matches were played at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.
