Ibrahim Mahama reminisced about the early days of his business, which he established in 1996-1997. At that time, John Mahama was not yet considering a political career. John had been working at Plan International, and his aspirations were far from becoming a Member of Parliament (MP). However, fate took an unexpected turn when John decided to pick up the form and enter politics.

“I became successful much more in Kufuor’s time because I had nobody hanging around my neck.”

Ibrahim emphasized that his success blossomed during the tenure of President John Agyekum Kufuor. Unlike later years when his brother held the vice presidency, Ibrahim felt unencumbered by political ties. He recalled, “I had nobody hanging around my neck.” The absence of familial expectations allowed him to thrive in his business endeavors.

Interestingly, Ibrahim expressed regret about his brother’s vice presidency. He revealed that it posed challenges for his business. Despite expecting support, he faced difficulties. However, with the current ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in power, Ibrahim remains optimistic. He stated, “I likely won’t get favors, but I’m even doing better than I was doing when my brother was president.”
