The Ghana Swimming Association’s (GSA) election, scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Accra Digital Centre, has been put on hold following an interlocutory injunction granted by the Accra High Court.
The injunction was obtained by a group of stakeholders who alleged various constitutional breaches by the GSA leadership led by Delphina Quaye, the president.
Alleged Breaches
The plaintiffs claim that the GSA’s Election Committee, and leadership have breached the association’s constitution in several ways, including:
Inclusion of Unqualified Representatives: The plaintiffs argue that the GSA has included ten regional representatives who are not from regional swimming associations, contrary to Article 12.4(c) of the GSA constitution.
Proxy Voting: The plaintiffs claim that the introduction of proxy voting is unconstitutional, as the GSA constitution does not provide for it.
Ineligible candidates: The plaintiffs argue that Mr. Seth Nti, the Liaison Officer between the GSA and the National Sports Authority, is disqualified from contesting as treasurer due to his position on the executive board.
Financial irregularities: The plaintiffs allege that the GSA has failed to provide audited accounts for over ten years and refused to provide a financial report as part of the agenda for the General Assembly.
The court’s decision means that the GSA election will not proceed as planned until the constitutional breaches are resolved.
The stakeholders who obtained the injunction have called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority to dissolve the current executive council, appoint an interim management committee, and commission a forensic audit of the GSA’s finances.
The GSA election committee led by Kwame Owusu ESQ. earlier announced the various candidates, including the incumbent Delphina Quaye contesting for positions including, President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, General Secretary, Treasurer and 4 Executive Members.

A total list of 52 delegates have also been announced for the supposed election.
