International Migrants Day celebrated with health screenings and awareness initiatives at Ghana-Burkina Faso border.
In a proactive initiative to mark International Migrants Day, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ghana, in collaboration with the Migration Health Division and Port Health Division of the Ghana Health Service, organized a series of events in Paga, a border community nestled between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
The festivities kicked off with free health screenings conducted by medical professionals, covering crucial health indicators such as hypertension, blood glucose levels, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis. The screenings aimed to address the health needs of the migrant community in the region and foster a culture of well-being.
Additionally, an insightful awareness session was held to emphasize the importance of taking immediate action for a healthier tomorrow. The session shed light on the significance of prioritizing health and well-being, not only for individuals but also for building a more cohesive society.
The event, shared on the official Twitter account of the International Organization for Migration (@UNmigration) in Ghana, received positive engagement and showcased the commitment of the organization to the well-being of migrants in border communities.
