Visa-free travel with Ghana not happening soon – Israeli Ambassador

Israel’s Ambassador to Ghana, Roey Gilad, has stated that a visa-free travel policy between Israel and Ghana is not likely to happen anytime soon. He made the comments in an interview shared on Citi FM’s X page on August 26.

According to the ambassador, several outstanding issues remain between the two governments, which must be resolved before such a policy can even be considered.

A key concern raised was that many Ghanaians have overstayed their visas in Israel, creating complications for any discussions on relaxed travel rules.

“There are a few issues that we are ironing out with your government, and when these issues are solved, we might have a policy of no visas, but I don’t see it coming in the near future,” Gilad explained.

Israel currently requires Ghanaians to apply for visas before entry, and until the challenges are addressed, travel between the two nations will continue under existing arrangements.
