Kasoa Clears Traders from Walkways
The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly began a decongestion exercise in Kasoa’s Central Business District on May 26, 2025, targeting traders occupying pedestrian walkways and main roads. The initiative aims to restore order and enhance safety for pedestrians.
Municipal Chief Executive Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini announced that the exercise will be sustained, with traders warned against returning to cleared areas. Plans are in place to relocate affected traders to a designated satellite market to accommodate their businesses.

Serwonoo-Banini revealed that a task force, comprising personnel from the Immigration Service, Prisons Service, Fire Service, and Police, will be formed to conduct 24-hour patrols alongside the Assembly’s team to enforce compliance in the area.

The MCE emphasized ongoing dialogue and public education to encourage cooperation but warned that traders defying the rules will face legal consequences, stressing the Assembly’s commitment to upholding local laws.
