Kolie Samuel Convicted for Millennium City Attack
Kolie Samuel was sentenced to 19 years’ imprisonment by the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court on July 15, 2025, for robbing a female victim at Millennium City, Ga South Municipality, Greater Accra, on July 10. Arrested in an intelligence-led operation by the Central East Regional Police at Ngleshie Amanfro, Samuel pleaded guilty to robbery and causing harm, receiving 14 and 5 years respectively, to run concurrently.
The robbery involved stealing an iPhone 16 Pro Max and a purse with cash. A search recovered the victim’s phone, plus a Dell laptop, multiple mobile phones, AirPods, a gold necklace, wristwatches, a ladies’ purse, a wallet with a health insurance card, and ten memory cards, believed to be proceeds of other robberies. Police suspect Samuel’s involvement in additional crimes, with investigations ongoing.
The swift arrest followed community tips and CCTV footage from Millennium City, a growing residential area. The court, presided over by Judge Isaac Addo, emphasized deterrence, citing rising robbery cases in Ga South. Samuel’s guilty plea expedited the trial, avoiding a lengthy process. The recovered items will be returned to identified owners, with police urging victims to come forward.

This conviction aligns with the Ghana Police Service’s intensified efforts to curb crime in Greater Accra, following similar arrests in Kwadaso and Ablekuma North. The case highlights challenges with urban crime, as Ga South reported a 15% rise in robberies in 2025, per police data. Community leaders praised the police but called for increased patrols to enhance safety.
