NACOC Intercepts UK-Bound Cannabis, Hunts Two Suspects

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) seized 738 compressed parcels of suspected cannabis at the Swissport Terminal of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra on July 5, 2025. The drugs, hidden in 40 boxes labeled as “assorted food items” and bound for the UK, were uncovered after weeks of surveillance, as reported by 3News.

Two individuals were arrested and are assisting investigations, while two others, Lincoln Nii Okaija (born March 27, 1979) and Kate Davidson, alias “Esi,” remain at large. NACOC has declared them wanted and urged the public to provide information for their arrest. The operation highlights Ghana’s role as a transit hub for narcotics to Europe.

The seizure follows a June 24 raid in Akyem Oda and Akroso, where 14 suspects were arrested and three chemical shops shut for selling illegal drugs. NACOC’s 2022 report noted a spike in drug seizures, with 59,900 kg confiscated, showing the growing challenge of cannabis trafficking in Ghana.
