The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has confirmed that operations at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) remain unaffected by the global IT outage currently disrupting industries worldwide, including airlines, banks, retail outlets, and broadcasters.
While major U.S. airlines and other international airports face grounded flights and widespread delays due to the IT issues, KIA has managed to avoid these disruptions. Despite Microsoft’s assurance that the problem has been resolved, issues persist, with error screens still appearing on public displays across the globe.
In a statement released on Friday, GACL management reassured the public that KIA’s IT systems are fully operational and that all flights are proceeding according to schedule. “Kotoka International Airport’s IT systems are intact. However, due to the global nature of the glitch, some flight delays and interruptions may be experienced from countries affected by the glitch, which may have a slight impact on Accra,” the statement read.
Out of the 24 international airlines operating at KIA, only one has had to cancel some of its scheduled flights due to the outage. “All other operations are uninterrupted and on schedule as usual,” the statement concluded.
GACL has committed to closely monitoring the situation and providing updates to travelers as necessary. The company’s proactive measures and communication aim to maintain confidence among passengers during this global disruption.
