King Paluta’s Team Questions Exclusion of Makoma at TGMAs

The management team of Ghanaian artist King Paluta has expressed their disappointment over the exclusion of his hit song Makoma from the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs). Despite being submitted for four categories—Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year—the song failed to secure a single nomination.

In a statement dated March 18, King Paluta’s team labeled the omission as “unpopular,” asserting that Makoma has been widely celebrated and remains one of Ghana’s most loved tracks during the year under review. They further called on the awards board to explain its decision, which has caused disappointment among the artist’s fans and the music community at large.

The management has officially petitioned Charterhouse, organizers of the TGMAs, to reconsider their decision and provide clarity. They argued that the song meets all moral and ethical requirements for nomination and believe that excluding it undermines its impact and popularity.

Makoma generated significant excitement among listeners, standing out as a fan favorite since its release. The petition underlines the team’s readiness to engage the board for further discussions in the hopes of securing a fair review.

This development has fueled a broader debate over transparency in awards nominations, with King Paluta’s team urging Charterhouse to maintain the credibility of Ghana’s premier music event. Fans and stakeholders now eagerly await a response to their concerns.
