The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) made a historic appearance and participated in the King’s Baton Relay event organized by the Ghana Olympic Committee on Friday, October 3, 2025.

The event formed part of the preparations and build-up towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It also served as a platform for athletes, officials, and stakeholders to come together and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.

Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu and Senior national team player Emmanuel Commey both played major roles in the event, serving as a torch bearers, and highlighting the significance of unity and strength within the Olympic movement.

The event commenced with an official endorsement from Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Deborah, at the Jubilee House. The relay proceeded through the principal streets, where it was received by top sports officials, politicians, security personnel, athletes, and government appointees from across the country. The event showcased the country’s enthusiasm and commitment to sports development.

The GTTA’s participation in the King’s Baton Relay event is a significant step towards building momentum for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, and also demonstrated its commitment to fostering unity and promoting the values of the Olympic movement.

Mr. Afadzinu, who also serves as the first vice president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, and the GTTA’s involvement in this historic event underscores its commitment to excellence and teamwork.
