The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) table tennis team showcased their exceptional skills at the recently concluded table tennis event at the ongoing Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games in Cape Coast. The team’s impressive performance earned them a total of 9 medals, comprising 3 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

KNUST’s dominance in the competition was evident in their gold medal wins in the team men, singles men, and doubles men events. The team also secured silver medals in the singles men, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles events, and bronze medals in the women’s team, doubles men, and mixed doubles events.

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) finished second in the competition, with 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. UEW secured victories in the women’s team, women’s singles, and doubles women and a bronze medal in the men’s team event. 

The host institution, University of Cape Coast (UCC), finished third with 1 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

The table tennis competition, which took place from January 6 to 11 at the S.K Adjepong theater hall, featured eight institutions. 

The participating institutions included KNUST, UCC, UEW, University of Mines and Technology, Ghana Communication and Technology University, University of Development Studies, University of Ghana, and Simeon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies.

The success of KNUST’s table tennis team at the GUSA games is a testament to the institution’s commitment to sports development and excellence. The team’s impressive performance has set a high standard for future competitions.
