Serwaa Kwality Farms Demands GHS100 Million Compensation

Kofi Job Construction has come under fire after its alleged negligence led to the death of thousands of birds at Serwaa Kwality Farms in Bebu, within the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality near Kumasi.

Poultry Farm Devastated by Heavy Downpour

The tragic incident occurred on March 18, 2025, coinciding with the Mahama government’s efforts to revive the poultry industry under the Nkoko Nketiti initiative. Legal representatives for Serwaa Kwality Farms accused Kofi Job Construction of failing to exercise caution, leading to severe losses.

Farm Owners Take Legal Action

Lead solicitor Nana Obiri Boahen of Nso Nyame Ye Chambers has formally demanded GHS100 million in compensation from the construction firm, stating:

“As a result of the negligence and carelessness of your employees by failing to respect and accord other users of the road, a heavy downpour on March 18 resulted in the death of thousands of fowls belonging to our client.”

He warned that legal action will be taken if the compensation is not paid by April 2025.

Kofi Job Construction’s Troubling Track Record

This is not the first controversy involving Kofi Job Construction. The company previously faced criticism for failing to complete the Kenyase-Hwidiem road project, despite receiving full payment. The road, originally estimated at GHS71 million, was later revalued to GHS95.4 million in 2022 due to economic challenges, yet remains abandoned.

Call for Greater Accountability

The Bebu poultry farm disaster has fueled public outcry for stricter accountability in the construction sector. Critics argue that construction firms must prioritize safety and prevent avoidable damage to businesses and communities.
