Actor’s $50,000 Fraud Trial Delayed to August 2025

The Dansoman Circuit Court delayed the fraud case against Ghanaian actor Samuel Seth Karikari, known as Koo Ofori, to August 13, 2025. Ofori, famous for his role in Efiewura, is accused of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian woman of $50,000 in a fake land deal, as reported on June 26, 2025.

Ofori was arrested on May 9, 2025, after the victim, living in California, sent him the money for what she believed was a legitimate investment. Police say he failed to deliver on the deal and ignored a court summons on April 17. He pleaded not guilty and was granted GH¢320,000 bail with three sureties on May 12.

The court adjourned the case to give both sides time to address issues in the financial records and land transaction details. Ofori’s lawyer, Derick Aboagye, insists his client paid back the $50,000, denying any fraud. The prosecution, however, claims there are still discrepancies to resolve.

Ofori, also the General Manager of Bryt TV, appeared in court on June 25, 2025, as captured by GHOne TV. The case has drawn attention due to his fame and the large sum involved. The delay pushes the next hearing to August, keeping the legal battle in the spotlight.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about fraud in Ghana’s land deals, especially targeting Ghanaians abroad. As the investigation continues, the court’s next session will decide if Ofori’s defense holds or if he faces penalties for the alleged scam.
