Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the smooth resumption of operations at Terminal 3 of Kotoka International Airport, Accra, following a brief disruption. In a statement dated September 22, 2024, GACL assured the public that all passenger facilitation processes had returned to normal after an incident involving a passenger’s luggage emitting smoke at the Departure Hall.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:27 pm when the luggage was detected to be smoking near the baggage wrap area. The passenger involved has since been handed over to the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) for further interrogation, raising concerns over the contents of the luggage.
GACL has reiterated its warning to passengers about traveling with batteries, emphasizing that this is against international Civil Aviation Regulations. The authorities stated that any luggage found containing prohibited items like batteries will be confiscated, and the passenger involved will be handed over to law enforcement agencies.
