Blue Light Arena Blaze Causes Panic Among Traders
A massive fire has engulfed two-story buildings in the central business district of Adum, Kumasi, destroying several shops and properties. The fire, which broke out around 6 a.m., quickly spread through the Blue Light Arena, near Hello FM, causing widespread panic among traders.
Shop owners, dealing in mobile phones, accessories, jewelry, and clothing, were seen forcibly breaking into their stores to salvage their goods. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started from a flickering electricity pole, which then ignited the top floor of a building.
Hello FM’s Programmes Director, Nana Ama Ataffuah Quainoo, confirmed that their staff had to be evacuated as the flames advanced. She also criticized the delayed response of the Fire Service, stating that officers took too long to arrive. When they did, they struggled to contain the raging inferno.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Multiple fire tenders were eventually deployed, but firefighters faced challenges in bringing the situation under control. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of damage.
