Legal Team Condemns Public Allegations Amid Ongoing Investigations

Lawyers representing Kwabena Adu Boahene, the former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, have criticized Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of prejudging their clients in the ongoing corruption investigations.

Concerns Over Fairness in Investigation

In a strongly worded statement, the legal team denounced the Attorney General’s remarks during a March 24, 2025, press conference, where he suggested that Adu Boahene and his wife were guilty of state looting. The lawyers argued that investigations must remain impartial and not be used as a tool for political persecution.

“The power to investigate any Ghanaian for alleged criminal offences has no party colours. It is a painstaking exercise to ensure that the rights of citizens are not abused,” the statement read.

Refuting Allegations of Disguise and Evasion

The lawyers dismissed claims that Adu Boahene attempted to disguise himself when he arrived at Kotoka International Airport, asserting that he flew business class, not economy, as suggested by the Attorney General.

Additionally, they condemned Angela Adjei Boateng’s arrest when she voluntarily visited EOCO to check on her husband, arguing that “rehearsed criminals do not voluntarily submit themselves to arrest.”

Allegations of Political Targeting

The legal team further criticized the lack of verified evidence in the Attorney General’s statements, stating that relying on unproven claims to publicly tarnish their clients was unacceptable.

“We do not believe a change of government through constitutional means should degenerate into a reversal of the rule of law,” they asserted.

Vowing to Pursue Justice

Describing the allegations as politically motivated and defamatory, the lawyers vowed to challenge any unverified claims and seek justice for their clients.

“Our sense of law has been violated today. We will pursue justice for our clients,” the statement concluded.
