Kwesi Nyantakyi Says No Immediate Plans for Football Comeback
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has revealed that he has no immediate intentions of returning to mainstream football administration following his recent discharge from court.
Nyantakyi and his co-accused were discharged by the High Court after a five-year legal battle linked to the Number 12 investigative documentary, which exposed alleged corruption in Ghanaian football. The case collapsed after prosecutors failed to produce star witness, investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Nyantakyi described the Number 12 exposé as an attempt on his life and expressed deep reservations about returning to the football scene.
“I’m not returning to football once my ban is over. What they did to me was an attempt to actually kill me. While I still have an interest in football, I will not consider returning to mainstream administration for the time being,” Nyantakyi stated.
Nyantakyi’s departure from football in 2018 followed his ban by FIFA after the documentary alleged extensive corruption within the GFA. Despite his continued interest in the sport, he maintains that a return to administration is off the table for now.
