The LD Dodgers celebrated a wild night at Koshien Baseball Field in Labone on Saturday, 27 December 2025. They beat their arch‑rivals, the Tema Tigers, 7‑3 to claim the first ever Ghana National Baseball League trophy.
The match began as a tight pitcher’s duel. Frank Opoku of the Dodgers shut out the Tigers in the first inning, striking out Solomon Addison, Samuel Baah and Daniel Atiemo. The Tigers’ starter, Henry Kotei Nikoi, kept the Dodgers hitless in their first turn at bat, retiring Lawrence Kyei, Ernest Yemoh and Edmund Ackom.
Both teams played strong defense for the first two innings, and the score stayed 0‑0 until the third, when a missed throw by Daniel Atiemo let Alex Asare score the first run for the Dodgers. Soon after, Jerry Dovlo and Lawrence Kyei added two more runs, and a key RBI from Kofi Frimpong made it 5‑0.
The Tigers tried to fight back in the fourth inning. Solomon Addison and Samuel Baah each walked home, and Daniel Atiemo added a run after a missed ball, cutting the gap to 5‑3. Frank Opoku quickly ended the threat with a strikeout. The Dodgers answered right away, scoring two more runs to lead 7‑3. The Tigers could not catch up, and the Dodgers sealed the win.
LD Dodgers finished the season on top with 24 points, while the Tema Tigers were second with 21. Frank Opoku was named Most Valuable Player and Coach Daniel Obeng received the Best Coach award. The league also honored the Shai Osudoku Hawks, who took third place after beating the Tema Giant Hitters 13‑3.
