Lilwin’s A Country Called Ghana Set for Cinematic Premiere in Ghana and Nigeria
Award-winning Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin is set to premiere his internationally acclaimed movie, A Country Called Ghana, on February 28, 2025, across Silverbird Cinemas in Ghana and Nigeria.
Since its debut last year, the movie has earned 17 awards from 33 nominations, including:
- Best Indigenous Film at the 2024 Nollywood Film Festival
- Best Production Design and Best Make-Up Film at the 2024 Imo International Film Festival

At a media engagement in Kumasi, Frank Fiifi Ghabin, the movie’s director, revealed plans for nationwide screenings across all 16 regions of Ghana. The event was attended by Lilwin, his wife, Okyeame Akwadaa Nyame (PRO of Wezzy Empire), and industry stakeholders.
Mr. Ghabin emphasized that the movie’s international recognition had led Silverbird Distribution International to select it for cinema distribution.
“In Nigeria, the movie will premiere nationwide—Lagos, Abuja, Ikeja, Onitsha—wherever you are, expect A Country Called Ghana at a cinema near you,” he stated.
The director also highlighted that the film not only entertains but also projects Ghana’s movie industry and showcases Ghanaian culture globally.
In Ghana, the premiere will take place at:
- Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall and West Hills Mall
- Golden Eagle Cinema, Kumasi
Further regional screenings will follow.

Lilwin shared insights into the significant investments made in the production, including procuring high-quality equipment from abroad to meet international standards. He expressed his ambition to have the movie featured on Netflix, pledging to continue producing top-quality films until this goal is achieved.
“We need all stakeholders—media, government, and the public—to support the local movie industry as we push Ghana onto the international stage,” Lilwin said.
