Orlando Police Release X-Ray of Foreign Object in Suspect’s Abdomen

A Florida man, accused of stealing luxury jewelry worth more than half a million dollars, allegedly swallowed the stolen items just moments before being arrested by police.

Jaythan Gilder, 32, reportedly posed as a representative of a professional athlete at a Tiffany & Co. store in Orlando, Florida, leading employees to present him with several high-value pieces.

According to police, Gilder then grabbed two pairs of diamond earrings, worth a total of $769,500 (£597,000), and fled the store. He also attempted to steal a diamond ring, which he dropped during his escape.

Later that day, officers tracked Gilder down and reportedly caught him swallowing several objects believed to be the stolen earrings.

Orlando police later released an X-ray image appearing to show a foreign object inside a suspect’s abdomen. However, authorities have not confirmed whether they have retrieved the jewelry.

Police revealed that Gilder has a history of jewelry theft, including a previous robbery at a Tiffany & Co. store in Texas in 2022. He also has 48 separate arrest warrants in Colorado for other crimes.

Gilder has been charged with robbery with a mask and grand theft in the first degree, as the stolen goods are valued at more than $100,000.

Despite the accusations, he remains innocent until proven guilty in court.
