World Vision Ghana (WVG), a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization, has appointed Madam Laura Del Valle as its first female National Director. She takes over from Dickens Thunde, who retired, and becomes the first seasoned development and humanitarian women’s leader to lead the activities of WVG.

During her unveiling at the WVG Head Office in Accra, Madam Laura expressed her excitement about joining the “Orange” family and her commitment to serving the vulnerable in Ghanaian society. She was deeply impressed by the ministry and services provided to children and felt a strong connection to the cause. Her primary focus is to serve the children, families, and communities in Ghana, ensuring that they have a brighter future.

Madam Laura encouraged the WVG staff to align their actions with the vision and mission of the organization. She expressed gratitude for the warm reception she received and commended the staff for their commitment and professionalism.

With over 30 years of experience within and outside of World Vision, Madam Laura joins the Ghana team as a highly experienced professional. Prior to her appointment in Ghana, she served as the National Director of World Vision El Salvador since 2013. Over the years, she held various positions within World Vision, including Operations Director in WV El Salvador, Programme Quality Specialist at LACRO, and Research and Development Associate at the Global Centre. She has also demonstrated leadership in roles at the European Union and Plan International.

Madam Laura is a strong advocate for child protection and the well-being of boys and girls. Her goal is to inspire others to serve children with love and passion, while delivering high-quality results. She believes that children should play an active role in their own transformational experiences, creating a future free of violence and filled with the love of Jesus.

Educationally, Madam Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from El Salvador University, a master’s degree in art from Eastern University, and a doctoral degree in leadership from Gull University. She has specialized in NGO management from the TEC of Monterrey, Mexico, and is a certified ontological coach for business from the International Federation of Professional Ontological Coaches.
