Fugitives Declared Wanted in NSA Financial Scandal

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that some suspects involved in the National Sports Authority (NSA) financial scandal have fled the country, prompting him to direct security agencies to declare them wanted.

Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, February 27, 2025, he reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring that those responsible for financial mismanagement face justice.

“Such brazen stealing of state resources should not go unpunished,” he stressed.

Commitment to Accountability

President Mahama assured Ghanaians that efforts are underway to track down the absconded suspects and retrieve stolen funds.

He emphasized that his government will:

  • Strengthen anti-corruption institutions
  • Enhance financial oversight mechanisms
  • Ensure that public resources are safeguarded

Additionally, he urged law enforcement agencies and relevant institutions to work together to prevent similar cases of financial misconduct in the future.

Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Mahama reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, promising to strictly enforce laws protecting public funds.

“We will not tolerate corruption, and those who have looted state resources will be held accountable,” he assured.

As investigations into the NSA financial scandal continue, security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to apprehend the fugitives and ensure that justice is served.
