Newly Appointed Council to Oversee Military Policy and Administration
President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in the newly appointed Armed Forces Council members at a ceremony held on Monday, March 24, 2025. The appointees, drawn from diverse professional backgrounds, will provide policy direction and administrative oversight for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Role of the Armed Forces Council
The Armed Forces Council is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, discipline, and welfare of the military while maintaining democratic principles and accountability to the civilian government. The council also serves as an advisory body to the President on national defense and security matters.

Newly Appointed Council Members
The newly sworn-in members include distinguished individuals with expertise in governance, security, and public administration. The members are:
- Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang – Vice President & Chairperson of the Council
- Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah
- Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
- Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka
- Daniel Addo
- Fuseini Iddrisu
- Nancy Dakwa Ampofo
With this diverse team, the Mahama administration aims to strengthen Ghana’s military operations, uphold discipline, and ensure the well-being of personnel in line with national security priorities.
