Epic Musical “Mansa Musa and the Trail of Lost Gold” Premieres Soon
One of ancient West Africa’s most captivating historical eras is set to be celebrated in an extraordinary musical theatre production, “Mansa Musa and the Trail of Lost Gold, The Prelude.” Created by Ghanaian theatre legend Chief Moomen, this grand African production will debut at the National Theatre of Ghana on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 7:30 PM.
The production brings together a stellar cast and crew of 150, making it one of the most ambitious African musical theatre projects to date. Following its Ghanaian premiere, the production will embark on a global tour, with scheduled performances across Africa, Europe, America, the Middle East, and Asia.
A Journey Back to Mansa Musa’s Rich Legacy
“Mansa Musa and the Trail of Lost Gold, The Prelude” tells the story of young adventurers who travel back in time to uncover the lost treasures of Mansa Musa. Mansa Musa, a legendary ruler of the Mali Empire, is widely regarded as one of the wealthiest individuals in history. The production promises a thrilling adventure filled with history, culture, and awe-inspiring performances.
This is the first of four productions under The Mansa World, an ambitious storytelling initiative designed to showcase African history and heritage to a global audience through world-class theatre and cinematic experiences.

The musical is brought to life by Bambu Heritage Productions and promoted by Masala Corporation. It is supported by Oakwood Green Africa and proudly partnered with UNESCO, further highlighting its cultural significance and global appeal.
