Mercy Stephanie Lamptey, Ghana’s distinguished female philanthropist, has been sworn in as president of the Rotaract Club of Panchsheel, becoming the first woman to hold the post since the club’s founding.
The brief ceremony, attended by fellow Rotaractors, mentors and distinguished guests, highlighted a milestone in the club’s history and underscored Lamptey’s commitment to advancing Rotary’s ideals in the region.
The Rotaract Club of Panchsheel, a member of Rotary International, was established to empower young professionals through service, leadership and fellowship. Its core duties include organizing community‑service projects, promoting ethical standards, and fostering international connections among members. The club focuses on initiatives that address education, health, and environmental sustainability, striving to create lasting impact both locally and globally.
In her inaugural address, Lamptey reflected on the true meaning of leadership
“Standing before fellow Rotaractors, mentors and distinguished guests, I was reminded that leadership isn’t just about positions but about purpose, service and collective impact.” Her words set the tone for a year focused on the Rotary mantra of “Service Above Self.” She added, “This new chapter marks the beginning of a journey dedicated to ‘Service Above Self’, teamwork and creating meaningful and lasting impact,” emphasizing that the club’s strength lies in its diverse members spread across the globe.
Lamptey outlined a vision that blends teamwork with the core values of Rotaract and Rotary International, integrity, inclusiveness, and service. Together with her newly formed executive team, she pledged to uphold those values in every project they undertake.

“I thank everyone who has placed their trust in me and I look forward to a year of purpose‑driven leadership and impactful service,” she said, acknowledging the importance of community and mentorship in shaping her own Rotaract journey.
Her commitment to collaborative effort aims to inspire both current members and prospective Rotaractors to engage actively in service initiatives, ensuring that the Rotaract Club of Panchsheel continues to thrive and deliver on its mission of “Service Above Self.”
