Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) Jacob Codjoe, Commanding Officer of Achiase Jungle Warfare Training School, has issued a strong warning to individuals planning to disrupt Ghana’s upcoming December presidential and parliamentary elections. Speaking at a peace concert organized by the Salvation Army Church in Akyem Oda, Eastern Region, Lt. Col. Codjoe stressed that the military would not hesitate to take decisive action against troublemakers to ensure public safety.
“I will only intervene on the 7th of December within the Akyemansa enclave if the police inform me they cannot handle the situation. And when I come, I will not talk. I will beat you, and the hell with you,” Lt. Col. Codjoe declared, urging citizens to maintain peace.
He encouraged voters to cast their ballots and leave polling stations until counting begins, advising them to avoid lingering to prevent potential clashes. Stressing the importance of preserving national stability, he added, “The only good thing we have now is the peace we are enjoying. If we destroy it, nothing can go on.”
In a related development, Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who chairs the National Election Security Taskforce (NESTF), reiterated a similar commitment. The IGP pledged that security forces would uphold peace and ensure a free and fair electoral process, emphasizing zero tolerance for violence or disruptions during the elections.
Both security leaders highlighted the shared responsibility of all Ghanaians to protect the country’s peace, underlining that maintaining stability is crucial for national progress and prosperity.
