A group of Arabic scholars, led by Imam Abdallah Idriss Zakaria, has launched the Muslim Leadership Forum to support New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory campaign in the 2024 general elections.

The forum aims to ensure Bawumia’s triumph through various campaign activities, citing his exceptional leadership qualities and philanthropic efforts in zongo communities.

Bawumia’s initiatives in zongo communities have been impressive, including youth IT training, mosque and educational institution construction, and job creation.

These efforts have endeared him to the Muslim community, with Imam Idriss Abdallah Zakaria emphasizing the importance of supporting Bawumia.

“We believe in Bawumia’s vision for Ghana, and we will work tirelessly to ensure his success,” he stated.

The forum plans to extend support to any Muslim presidential candidate from either the NPP or the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Imam Idriss also cautioned the youth to remain vigilant and avoid immoral activities during the election period.

Hon. Muhammed Bashir, representing Alhaji Dr. Ben Abdallah Banda, Coordinator of Inner Cities and Zongo Development Sectariat, advocated for nationwide support for Bawumia.

“Bawumia will make a perfect President and leader. He is the best, and looking at some of his community engagements within the zongo, we will rally behind him and ensure his victory.” Bashir attributed Ghana’s resilience during the worldwide pandemic to Bawumia’s leadership and economic qualities.

Following the successful launch, the Muslim Leadership Forum will embark on a nationwide campaign tour across zongo communities, highlighting Bawumia’s accomplishments and rallying support for his presidential bid.
