The Ministry of National Security Confirmed That Benlord Ababio, The suspect in The Shooting Incident Resulting In The Death of a Soldier, is Not Affiliated With The Ministry.

The Ministry has confirmed that Benlord Ababio, the suspect in the shooting incident resulting in the death of a soldier, is not affiliated with the Ministry. This statement comes after a military officer was shot dead during a land dispute in Millennium City, with two other officers narrowly escaping death.

A statement from the National Security claims the shooter isn't an affiliate.

The incident occurred near the Millennium City District Police Command in Kasoa, Central region. Despite speculations linking the suspect to the Ministry, the Ministry has clarified that Ababio is not a staff member.

In a statement, the Ministry stated, “The Ministry wishes to put on record that the suspect, Benlord Ababio who is currently in police custody, is not a staff of the Ministry of National Security.” They also urged the public to disregard any news suggesting that Ababio is affiliated with the Ministry.

The shooting incident has raised concerns about security and safety, especially in areas experiencing land disputes. The Ministry’s clarification aims to dispel any misinformation regarding the suspect’s employment status.

Also, The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the death of the military officer, Lance Corporal Danso Michael in a tragic incident related to a land dispute at Millennium City, Kasoa. The altercation, which occurred on April 30, 2024, involved an alleged landguard, Benlord Ababio, who is currently in police custody.

In the Ghana Armed Forces statement Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Omar Abdul Rahman, who owned a disputed half plot of land, accompanied by his colleagues L/Cpl Danso Michael (now deceased) and L/Cpl Ametus Matthew, went to investigate reports of individuals working on the land.

“GAF condemns this unprovoked attack in no uncertain terms. We reiterate our commitment to maintaining law and order in our communities and urge all citizens to seek peaceful and lawful means to resolve land disputes and to refrain from engaging in acts of violence to prevent such tragic incidents,” the statement added.
