Osei Assibey Antwi, the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), has called upon prospective national service personnel for the 2023/2024 service year to embrace their designated postings as they embark on their mandatory one-year national service. Speaking during an interview on the GTV Breakfast show, Antwi acknowledged that while some individuals may not be entirely thrilled with their placements or assigned user agencies, it is crucial to recognize the significance of adapting to these situations to contribute effectively to the nation using their acquired skills.

Antwi stressed the importance of service personnel understanding the role they play in the development of Ghana and how their skills can be put to use in various capacities across the nation. He encouraged them to view their assignments as opportunities to make a meaningful impact on their communities and the country as a whole.

“Every placement is an opportunity to learn and contribute,” Antwi stated. “It may not always be what you expected, but your dedication and adaptability can turn any posting into a valuable experience. This is your chance to serve Ghana and grow both personally and professionally.”

Antwi also highlighted the NSS’s commitment to ensuring that the placement process is as fair and transparent as possible, aiming to match service personnel’s skills and qualifications with suitable roles.

As thousands of young Ghanaians prepare to begin their national service, Antwi’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of embracing the responsibilities that come with it. The 2023/2024 service year holds the promise of numerous opportunities for service personnel to contribute positively to the nation’s development while honing their own skills and abilities.
