As part of the measures for developing sports in the country, the National Sports College, Winneba held a 2-day football recruitment exercise for boys aged 14 to 16. The well-participated event, which attracted 25 young talented footballers from across the country, also formed part of the college’s 4-year developmental plans. Top local football coaches took the players through various football strategies aimed at developing their talents and improving their careers.

Addressing the players, Mr. Bawah Fuseini, the Director of the National Sports College, commended the young players for their participation. He revealed plans to provide the players with the needed support and requisite knowledge. “We would ensure you get all the needed support and education to better your career. You have all done well and exhibited good sportsmanship; go back to your various schools, we shall invite you again for the intensive development,” he said.

Amazed by the talents and play, former head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Prosper Ogum, expressed his satisfaction. He encouraged the players to be vigilant in their training and called for the right developmental plans.

Coach Didi Dramani also indicated that players need both talent and character to excel in their careers. According to him, they need to develop a good attitude to stay focused.

Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng commended the organizers for their vision and approach. “It’s nice going through exercises of this nature,” he said. “We want you to do your best and make sure that the development continues.” Mr. Akenteng emphasized the college’s commitment to developing players to the national and international levels.
