The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined its vision for a revitalized sports sector in Ghana. In a recent interview on HOT 93.9FM, Hon. Dicson Kwabena Kyere, MP-elect for Berekum West constituency and spokesperson for the NDC manifesto on sports, shared the party’s plans to transform Ghanaian sports.
According to Hon. Kyere, the NDC government will prioritize transparency and accountability in sports management. To achieve this, the party plans to probe the All African Games and other related sporting activities. This move is expected to promote good governance and ensure that resources allocated to sports are utilized efficiently.
The NDC government also plans to increase funding for sports, with a focus on supporting Premier, Division 1, women’s clubs, and para-sports. This increased funding is expected to promote equity among all sporting disciplines and provide opportunities for growth and development.
In addition to these plans, the NDC government promises to support the Black Stars’ bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The party also assures that it will not impose coaches on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the Black Stars, instead, the GFA will consult with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) before appointing coaches.
The NDC’s vision for Ghanaian sports is built on the principles of equity, transparency, and accountability. With a comprehensive plan in place, the party is poised to transform the sports sector and promote growth and development.
