Vipers Sports Club head coach, Leo Neiva is confident that his side can turn around the loss suffered at the hands of Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy in Sunday’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League fixture played at the Lobatse Sports Complex.
The six-time Ugandan champions’ continental campaign got off to a shaky start, as a brace from Thabang Sesinyi resulted in a 2-0 loss for the visitors.
With the return leg scheduled for next Saturday, coach Neiva, who hails from Brazil believes home ground advantage could play in their favour if they work hard in rectifying some of their mistakes.
“It was a very good game for both sides. Galaxy are a very organized side on the field and for our side, we started on the backfoot and we accepted their attack. But no excuse they deserve the win. Congratulations to coach Morena and congratulations to the Galaxy team”, said the 45-year-old coach.
“But the game is still open. If Galaxy are able score two goals at home, we are also able to score two in Uganda. So now we go back to Uganda and moving forward, we need to work a lot to fix some points. The game is still open” warned Neiva.
In Neiva, The Venoms have a coach who knows how to get a result in tough situations.
The Brazilian won the Tanzanian Premier League and Super Cup in his first and only season with Young Africans before he was scooped by Montego Bay United in Jamaica.
However as seen on Sunday, it will not be easy against Galaxy who also have an astute tactician in coach Morena Ramoreboli, who’s recent success was rewarded with a call up to his national team where he led South Africa to a third-place finish in this year’s COSAFA Cup.
