GHS Confirms Spread Across 15 Regions As Vaccines Await
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 22 new cases of Mpox, bringing the national total to 446 as of August 25, 2025. The number of deaths remains at one, with no current hospital admissions reported.
Authorities say cases have now been detected in 15 of the country’s 16 regions, sparking growing concern over the steady spread of the disease nationwide.
To help contain the outbreak, Ghana has secured more than 33,000 doses of Mpox vaccines. Officials say the vaccines will be administered to at-risk groups once they arrive, strengthening ongoing response efforts.
Mpox is primarily transmitted through close contact with infected persons. Health experts have urged the public to remain vigilant, stressing the importance of early detection and treatment.
The GHS continues to encourage good hygiene practices and has advised anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, rash, headaches, or body pains to seek immediate medical attention.
