Circuit Court Handed All Three Suspects Additional Convictions


The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed that three Nigerian nationals arrested in June 2025 for vehicle-related thefts in Kumasi have been successfully prosecuted and sentenced to lengthy prison terms.

The suspects — Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze — were arraigned before different courts in Kumasi in July 2025. On July 22, Ekenze pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour (IHL). Friday and Agwazie, who pleaded not guilty, were later found guilty by Circuit Court 3 on July 23 and sentenced to 8 years IHL each, to run concurrently.

That same day, Circuit Court I handed all three suspects additional convictions, sentencing each to 20 years IHL on two counts, also to run concurrently. On July 24, Circuit Court 2 imposed a further 10-year IHL sentence on Ekenze, likewise to run concurrently with his earlier conviction.

The convicts are currently serving their sentences at Kumasi Central Prison. The Ashanti Regional Police Command, in a statement on Sunday, September 7, commended the outcome as a clear demonstration of its commitment to protecting life and property. The Police also urged the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
