Dr. Fred Awaah, Board Chairman
The governing board of the National Sports Authority (NSA) is gearing up for a crucial interactive session with various sports federations scheduled for Tuesday, 20 January 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The interactive session will focus on key areas such as infrastructure development, athlete welfare, grassroots sports growth, and among others. Its also aims to foster collaboration and provide a platform for stakeholders including presidents to engage with the board.
This event marks a significant milestone as it will also formally introduce the newly constituted Governing Board, led by Chairman Dr. Fred Awaah, with Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as Director General.
Dr. Awaah’s appointment as board chairman follows his swearing-in by Sports Minister Kofi Adams, who charged the board to drive strategic reforms and performance-driven leadership. The board’s vision includes repositioning sports as a major contributor to Ghana’s economy, with plans to increase the sector’s GDP contribution.
In a statement signed by the Director General, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the NSA urged leaders of the federations to attend, emphasizing the importance of their support and cooperation in driving Ghana’s sports development agenda.
The NSA has also highlighted the need for innovative partnerships and investment models to enhance the sector’s visibility and commercial value.
