Deputy Attorney General Suggests Possible Evidence Tampering

CCTV footage has reportedly captured Angela Adjei Boateng, the wife of embattled former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu Boahene, moving suitcases suspected to contain foreign currency shortly after her husband’s arrest.

This revelation was made in court on Friday, March 28, 2025, by Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, who suggested that her actions could indicate an attempt to conceal or destroy crucial evidence linked to the case. Dr. Srem Sai, addressing the Accra Human Rights Court, disclosed that the footage showed Boateng hurriedly handling the suitcases on the night she learned of her husband’s arrest.

Allegations: Misappropriation of $7 Million Cyber Defence Contract

Adu Boahene is facing charges related to embezzling state funds from a $7 million cyber defence contract between Ghana and Israeli firm RLC Holdings Limited, signed in 2020. According to the Attorney General’s office, instead of financing the critical national security project, a significant portion of the funds was allegedly diverted for personal use.

Investigations indicate that on February 6, 2020, just days after finalizing the contract, Adu Boahene allegedly transferred GH¢27.1 million from the NSB’s Fidelity Bank account into a private UMB account owned by BNC, a company he co-owns with his wife. The funds were reportedly laundered through real estate investments both locally and internationally.

Bail Conditions Reduced

Following his arrest, Adu Boahene and his legal team challenged his initial bail conditions, arguing they were excessive. On Friday, March 28, 2025, the court reduced his bail from GH¢120 million to GH¢80 million, requiring two sureties, one to be justified.
