MP and Associates Accused of GH₵600,000 Contract Fraud

John Ntim-Fordjour, the 38-year-old MP for Assin South in Ghana’s Central Region, is in hot water again. Alongside two others, Edmond Oppong-Peprah and Eric Yeboah, he’s been reported to the Police CID for allegedly defrauding businessman Sylvester Agyen of GH₵600,000. The trio promised Agyen a government contract to build an AstroTurf, but the deal turned out to be a sham.

Agyen, based in Sakumono, Accra, paid the full amount in March 2024 after the group approached him with the offer. Months later, with no contract in sight, he investigated and found no such project existed in the Central Region. When confronted, the accused refunded GH₵400,000 but still owes Agyen GH₵200,000, according to his February 2025 petition to the CID.

Ntim-Fordjour, a second-term MP and former Deputy Minister of Education, has a history of legal troubles. In 2023, he was ordered to pay GH₵700,000 in a defamation case, raising questions about his credibility. His academic background in Mineral Engineering and Economic Policy Management hasn’t shielded him from these controversies.

Agyen has since struggled to contact the trio, claiming they’ve blocked him and ignored his attempts to recover the remaining funds. The CID is now being urged to investigate and compel the accused to refund the outstanding amount, as efforts to reach them for comment have failed.
