The National Union of Tricycle Operators of Ghana (NUTOG) is a union representing tricycle operators across Ghana. Established to promote the welfare and interests of tricycle operators, NUTOG has been actively involved in community development and social responsibility initiatives.

In its latest gesture with support from the TVS Group, NUTOG has demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the community by donating items to the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital and the Saviour Children Foundation Home in Kasoa.

Speaking to the press, National Secretary of NUTOG, Mr. Hamza Hafiz, emphasized the union’s aim to support the needy in hospitals and orphanages.

“We are dedicated to helping those in need, and today’s donations are a testament to our commitment. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare and support, regardless of their financial situation.” He said.

NUTOG’s donation to the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital included items such as medical supplies, food, clothing, toiletries, detergents and cartons of water. The union also paid the hospital bills of delivery mothers who had been unable to pay their bills due to financial constraints.

“We were touched by the plight of these mothers who had been stuck in the hospital for months due to lack of funds. We are happy to have been able to help,” said Mr. Hafiz.

The Administrative Manager for Mother and Child Hospital Kasoa, James Jakuja, expressed his gratitude to NUTOG for the donation. “We are thankful for the support from NUTOG. Their donation will go a long way in helping us provide quality care to our patients. Additionally, their tricycle services have been a blessing to our workers who do not have cars.”

NUTOG also donated items to the Saviour Children Foundation Home in Kasoa. Mr. Eddie Honest, the manager of the home, thanked NUTOG for their generosity. “We are grateful for the support from NUTOG. Their donation will help us provide for the needs of the children in our care.”

Mr. Hafiz also used the opportunity to reiterate NUTOG’s call on the government to legalize tricycle operations in Ghana.

“We believe that our operations have reduced unemployment and crime rates in the country, especially in Kasoa. We urge the government to recognize our contributions and legalize our operations.”

Overall, NUTOG’s donations demonstrate the union’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting those in need. The union would officially be inaugurated on Thursday, 25th July, 2024.
