Renowned gospel artist Ohemaa Mercy has issued a stern warning against engaging in distractions, particularly taking selfies, during “praise and worship” sessions. In an interview with Nana Romeo on Ayekoo Ayekoo on Accra 100.5 FM, she emphasized the significance of fully immersing oneself in worship to receive God’s blessings.

According to Ohemaa Mercy, the act of praising God is a crucial moment when believers can experience His presence and receive divine favor. She stressed that missing out on this pivotal time could result in missed opportunities and blessings. The singer-songwriter emphasized that God manifests His glory during worship, and subsequently, His chosen ministers deliver their messages.

Surprisingly, Ohemaa Mercy advised that those who want to truly encounter God should engage in worship that they may initially underestimate or overlook. She cautioned against arriving late and only joining in during the preaching, emphasizing that much is lost by doing so.

Furthermore, the gospel artist underscored the importance of expressing gratitude to God through thanksgiving. Ohemaa Mercy noted that God desires thanksgiving from His people, acknowledging the protection and sustenance He provides throughout the week.

To illustrate her point, Ohemaa Mercy shared an experience she had while performing at a church. During worship, she had a vision revealing empty chairs, including one specifically assigned to a regular attendee who was absent. When the individual arrived later, Ohemaa Mercy conveyed to her the missed opportunity of witnessing a divine intervention for her child, emphasizing the consequences of not being present during worship.

The artist lamented the lack of reverence shown towards God, expressing concern that people have grown too familiar with the Almighty. She highlighted the irony of how individuals display profound respect and deference when in the presence of earthly kings, but fail to exhibit the same reverence before God.

Ohemaa Mercy’s cautionary message serves as a reminder to believers to prioritize worship and avoid distractions during the “praise and worship” session. By fully engaging in worship, individuals open themselves up to receive answers to their prayers and experience God’s presence.
