In a shocking case of mob justice, an okada rider in his mid-30s, known as Guy Man, was burned to death following a failed goat theft in Awutu Kwame Kwei, Awutu Senya West District. On the night of September 4, 2024, the suspect was caught by residents after attempting to steal goats in the area.
Following his arrest, the furious mob beat him mercilessly before setting both him and his motorcycle on fire. The tragic incident left his body charred beyond recognition. Local police from Awutu Bontrase later arrived at the scene and transported the remains to the morgue, while investigations continue.
The gruesome act has raised concerns about the recurring issue of mob justice in Ghana, where suspects often face brutal punishments before law enforcement can intervene. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the mob action.
