Oliver Barker-Vormawor, convener of the Democracy Hub protest, has been granted bail amounting to GH¢20,000 with two sureties after his arrest on September 23, 2024, alongside 52 others. The charges stem from allegations of causing public disturbances during the protest. Barker-Vormawor has been charged with several offences, including unlawful assembly, stealing, assaulting a public officer, and offensive conduct conducive to breaching public peace.

Initially denied bail by the Accra Circuit Court, the High Court also remanded him during an appeal by his legal team. However, his lawyers made a subsequent bail application, which was granted by the High Court, allowing Barker-Vormawor to be released under strict conditions. He is required to report to the police twice a week.

The High Court judge had expressed concerns about the possibility of Barker-Vormawor reoffending, particularly since he was already on bail for treason felony charges at the time of his latest arrest. However, the court ruled in favor of granting bail, urging prosecution to commence the trial without delay.
