Ablakwa Reveals ORAL Committee’s Anti-Corruption Impact
The Operation Clear All Looters – ORAL Committee, chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has received 2,417 complaints from concerned citizens regarding corruption and stolen state resources.
Breakdown of Complaints
According to Ablakwa, the complaints were submitted through:
- 1,493 cases via phone calls
- 924 cases via email
The committee, a specialized anti-graft task force, worked closely with National Security and other enforcement agencies to investigate and address corruption.
Major Achievements of ORAL
During a report handover at Jubilee House on February 10, Ablakwa highlighted key successes of the committee, including:
✅ Securing lands belonging to the Northern Development Authority with National Security’s support.
✅ Preventing the demolition of 50 government-owned bungalows, ensuring public property remains protected.
✅ Investigating 36 high-profile corruption cases, with potential recovery of $20.49 billion in stolen funds.
Call for Continued Public Vigilance
Ablakwa urged whistleblowers and citizens to continue reporting corruption to relevant state agencies, even after ORAL’s mandate concludes. He emphasized the importance of transparency, justice, and accountability in governance.
With investigations ongoing, the ORAL Committee’s findings could lead to major prosecutions and financial recoveries, marking a significant step in Ghana’s fight against corruption.
