MIIF, Airports, Education Among Targets
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is investigating 67 major corruption cases across sectors like natural resources, aviation, and education, as per its August 19, 2025, report. Key probes include the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) for Agyapa Royalties and lithium deals, and Ghana Airports Company (2020–2024).
The OSP targets MIIF’s payments, board expenses, and contracts with firms like Asante Gold and ElectroChem. Other investigations cover the Ghana Education Service’s sale of appointment letters, the National Cathedral procurement, and Tema Oil Refinery’s deals. The OSP also probes illegal mining and payroll fraud, saving GH¢34.2 million in 2024.
Customs Division auctions (2016–2022), Bank of Ghana’s financial sector crisis, and land acquisitions by the late Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie are under scrutiny. The OSP, under Act 959, secured six convictions and pursues 152 preliminary cases, prioritizing privacy and accountability.
The investigations, impacting over 20 state entities, aim to dismantle corruption networks. The OSP-CAGD payroll probe in the Northern Region blocked GH¢2.85 million in unearned salaries, with plans to expand nationwide, reinforcing Ghana’s anti-corruption drive.
