Ongoing investigations with FBI lead to postponement of hearing in the civil case

Accra, Ghana – In a recent development concerning the civil case between the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and Cecilia Dapaah alongside Daniel Osei Kuffour, proceedings took a significant turn today.

During today’s session, the prosecution team approached the Court with a request to postpone the hearing regarding the freezing of bank accounts and the confirmation of cash seizure from the residence of the former minister. The reason cited for this request was the ongoing investigative report collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on certain aspects of the case.

In response to the prosecution’s plea, the Court, after careful consideration, consented to the adjournment. The new date set for the continuation of the proceedings is slated for 11th January 2024. It’s worth noting that the Court has explicitly emphasized the expectation for the OSP to finalize its review related to the motion by this specified date.

This delay indicates the gravity and complexity of the case at hand. The involvement of international agencies like the FBI highlights the depth of the investigation and underscores the importance of ensuring a thorough examination of all facets before proceeding further.

As the case progresses, stakeholders, the public, and interested parties await further updates, ensuring that justice is served transparently and efficiently. The OSP’s commitment to collaboration and thoroughness, as demonstrated by its engagement with international partners, reflects a dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability at all levels.
