The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, parents of 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, the suspect driver in the fatal car accident that claimed two lives in East Legon on October 12, 2024. The crash, which involved a Jaguar SUV driven by Elrad, resulted in the deaths of two occupants from the other vehicle.

According to a police statement, Elrad was driving the Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20) when it collided with a 4×4 Acura (GR 2542-23), driven by Joseph Ackah, which had four occupants. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames, leading to severe damage and fatalities. The police have arrested Elrad’s parents as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the accident, especially given the driver’s age.

The police stated, “The parents of the 16-year-old suspect driver, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, are currently in custody, assisting the investigation.” Authorities are focusing on how a minor was operating a vehicle, which led to such a tragic outcome.

Meanwhile, a team from the Police Management Board, led by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and also checked on the injured individuals who were receiving treatment at the hospital. The police assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring justice and closure to the affected families.
